We want to make sure that your journey with hair extensions is seamless. Whether you are a first-time user or seasoned extension user, this FAQ can be a good reminder and helpful!

 FAQs

  • I am exclusively offering hand-tied extensions using the methods. I have been certified in, Mane Lux, Skw, And Habit. I use Covet and Mane hand-tied hair. This brand is high-quality hair only available to a selection of licensed professional stylists. Using only the best quality extensions, I am able to create and choose what method is best for each client based on their hair density. These extensions will be designed to look and feel like your own hair so you can confidently rock whatever style you want.

  • Extension hair from Covet and Mane can last on average between 6-9 months when taken care of properly. Tightenings or ‘move ups’ are every 6-8weeks (sometimes 10).

  • Everyone is required to fill out my application, which is located in the tab “meet the stylist”. This is so I can gather some preliminary info from you before a virtual consult will be scheduled.

  • As with ANY extension system, you must take care of them in between install and maintenance. In my professional opinion, your stylist will play a big role in this also. With the 3 methods I have been trained in, the hair is sewn to a beaded track, so during the move up, you can shift where the beads are placed, giving the previous hair a break! NO beads are touching your scalp, ever. I am committed to creating the best experience possible for my clients with the least amount of damage. Healthy hair is ALWAYS my priority.

DO’S & DONT’S FOR HAIR EXTENSIONS:

  • NEVER go to bed with wet hair (this will create matting).

  • NEVER get sunscreen/block or spray tan solution on your extensions. Avoid the ingredient Avobenzone, this ingredient will turn your hair extensions peachy pink.

  • Blow drying- please use LOW HEAT! Air drying is fine but blast the very top of your weft completely dry.

  • When going to bed do some of the following to avoid waking up with messy hair!

    • ALWAYS brush your hair before bed and first thing in the morning.

    • Low ponytail, low gentle braid, pigtail braids or loose top bun.

    • Sleep with your hair COMPLETELY dried!

    • Use a silk or satin pillowcase if possible.

WASHING YOUR HAIR:

  • When washing your hair, always brush before washing. Wash and lather your hair with shampoo in gentle tapping motions back and forth in between your tracks with your fingers tips. Do NOT wash in circles, this creates matting. Wash with sulfate FREE shampoo and conditioner.

  • Wash + rinse your hair in the same current as the water flows, never flipping your head over or upside-down.

  • Always use a leave in detangler after the shower to help with any knotted extension hair. A good Wet Brush and Unite 7 Seconds Detangler is my favorite trick.

BLOW DRYING

  • Before drying, make sure to use a heat protectant.

  • You can air dry hair then blow dry or rough dry hair to 80% (this means running fingers through your hair instead of a brush).

  • If you plan to go to a Dry Bar, let your stylist know not to round brush hair at the start.

  • For those with more than 1 row, the quickest way to blow dry your hair is to separate the rows and rough dry each section.

HOW TO STYLE

  • If you are curling your hair, run the extensions through the curling iron once to smoothen it out.

  • If you plan to straighten your hair, run the straightener over the extensions first then add in your hair.

  • When wearing your hair in a ponytail or high bun, gently pull the hair attached to the anchor bead forward.
